Shock as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Officials stated the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The motive behind the incident has not been established and no arrests have been made, police said.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property overseeing the setup of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but collapsed a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the crime scene.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
"We know they traveled on foot after the shooting, and police have been attempting to locate them to determine their location," remarked an authority figure.
