Citizens have assembled across the country to remember two years since the Hamas-led attack on October 7th, 2023, as negotiations proceeded in the neighboring country over a resolution to the war in Gaza.

The attack led to in excess of 1,200 people killed and 251 others abducted away to Gaza as captives. It was the single most fatal day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel responded by launching a armed campaign in Gaza which has taken over 67,000 people, as reported by the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are seen as accurate by the UN and other international bodies.

"The violent opponents have caused great damage, but they have not defeated us," Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "accomplish all the goals of the war: the return of all the abducted, the elimination of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will never again present a threat to Israel".

Remembrance Gatherings Across Israel

The Israeli government postponed official memorials until October 16th - after the end of the festive season - but events still were held throughout the country on that day.

A memorial ceremony for the families of Israelis killed in the Hamas incident was held in the coastal city. Arranged by the affected families, it was broadcast on Israeli television channels.

Hours earlier, a moment of silence was held across the country.

Ceasefire Discussions in Egypt

Meanwhile, the conflicting parties' delegations gathered in the North African coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for a second day of third-party negotiations to discuss the terms of the proposal.

A high-ranking delegate familiar with the discussions indicated that an late session of negotiations commenced at evening in Egypt.

The official stated the morning session concluded without tangible results, because of differences over the recommended Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over assurances Hamas seeks to make certain Israel does not restart hostilities after the initial stage of the agreement.

He commented that the talks are "challenging and have yet to produce any real breakthrough," but mentioned that intermediaries are working hard to reduce the differences between the two sides.

Essential Matters in Discussions

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The trade of the prisoners still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The removal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Measures for assistance deliveries
  • After-conflict administration of the region

Civilian Sentiment

In the city's memorial area previously, young Hagar - whose brother endured the assault on the Nova music festival, where 378 people were killed and many more were abducted by Hamas gunmen - told: "No place feels like home any longer and until all the hostages come back not a single person will feel safe."

"When we see everyone home once more, we can relax again. Then we can commence heal," she concluded.

In front of the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem, people gathered to express their solidarity for the families of the hostages. Israel reports forty-eight stay in captivity in Gaza, twenty of whom are considered to be alive.

Demonstrator Atalia Regev stated: "It's necessary do whatever arrangement needed for the captives to be released. But we sincerely need assurances that we will be protected."

Opinion polls now frequently demonstrate that approximately 70% of Israeli citizens want the war to finish in return for the release of the abducted.

Gaza Conditions

At the site of Nova festival, mourners came together to pay their respects.

From that location, the boom of aerial bombardments and artillery could be detected just a brief space away in Gaza, where local people said the intense Israeli bombardment persisted.

In the urban center, attacks were noted in the morning of that day in the west side district, sector and Nasr districts and in the eastern area of that sector, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwest.

"Once the evening comes, the fear arrives with it," displaced Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose 17-year-old son was died by an Israeli aerial attack previously, explained.

"Me and my three children are fearful of the attacks. During nighttime we are sleeping together, clinging, especially my smallest child who rests his head on me throughout the night."

"Every second we monitor the news to see what happened. And I'm concerned that this truce will not be finalized and that the war will resume to us."

Health Crisis

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City reported it had accepted the bodies of six people by the daytime, including several who lost their lives in an Israeli strike in the southern district.

Nasser hospital in the south region of Khan Younis reported two more dead people had been brought there. An individual was lost his life by Israeli troops while looking for help to the south, health workers stated.

The territory's health ministry said 25 of the {territ
