Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
