Fans Urge Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the actress are urging that a man who jumped a barricade and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating video shows the Australian man shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being taken in", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account contains recordings of him interrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Fans Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while some called for online networks to block Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande seemed surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a spin-off of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, earning several for best costume and production design.
